Social Justice
For Mrs. Ngern Khampang of Huai Pong, Thailand, life was unimaginably bleak. But when Plant With Purpose entered her village, things began to change. Working with the entire community, Plant With Purpose empowers the people of Huai Pong to take charge of their lives and solve their own problems. Mrs. Khampang says that, thanks to Plant With Purpose, her village now has more latrines, cleaner water, better roads, and a meeting hall. They have also received help with attaining citizenship rights—a critical need for the hill tribe members of Haui Pong, many of them refugees from Burma. Plant With Purpose is working upstream to address the root causes of poverty and deforestation that force so many hopeless families into desperate situations. In light of this new hope, Mrs. Khampang would like to "thank everyone who has helped our village and the project staff." Ways to Get Involved

"When our budding church community decided to put together the Micah Film Festival, we knew we wanted to connect people to organizations that had a proven track record of working creatively and intelligently for justice and mercy. Plant With Purpose fit that profile perfectly. The only thing that impresses us more than their incredibly comprehensive approach to creating global sustainability is the fact that they've been doing it for 25 years. Long before confronting poverty, deforestation, and unfair agro-business practices was fashionable, they were in the trenches doing it. That speaks volumes about their character.
We think the folks at the Micah Film Festival picked up on that depth of mission too. Every day we noticed the Plant With Purpose booth was a popular one, and when people were given the opportunity to direct a donation by voting with their ticket stubs, Plant With Purpose proved to be the organization that consistently captured people's imaginations. We were proud to highlight them at the Festival and we look forward to working with them again."

"I think that everyone deserves the right to basic things like water, food and housing. And even if it sounds crazy, I hope to see a time when everyone has those basic needs. I tweet about Plant With Purpose because I think the cause is just as important as any other cause, and if I can gain PWP just a few more followers, I'll be happy."

"I work for International Justice Mission, a human rights agency dedicated to securing justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. The way I see it, Plant With Purpose's work goes hand in hand with combating social injustices. Plant With Purpose works to heal the root cause of poverty, which ensures a better life for people and diminishes the threat of trafficking. I support Plant with Purpose's efforts because in the long run it will take both of our organizations working together to transform the lives of the poor and bring justice to those who have been wronged."
It's hard to imagine a situation so bleak that families would be forced to sell one child to save the rest. It's hard to imagine being a stranger in your own land. It's hard to imagine living in an area with no clean water, no accessible roads, no opportunities, and no hope.
