When Plant With Purpose arrived in her small, colorful village, BwaNef, Jacqueline had never heard of composting, soil conservation, or grafting. She decided to join Plant With Purpose's program to learn more about these sustainable agriculture techniques and learn ways to make her trees, and money, grow. She now applies the soil conservation techniques to her own land and has seen how they have improved her harvest of crops and the soil quality. She has also planted more trees, including oranges and avocados that contribute to a higher income and increased nutrition for her and her family. These are skills she now has for a lifetime and feels grateful for the investment that Plant With Purpose's supporters have made in her family's future. Who says that money doesn't grow on trees? We all know that money doesn't grow on trees, but for Jacqueline Bazil it might as well. As a farmer, Jacqueline and her family's very livelihood depends on trees. As a mother of three, two girls and one boy, she wanted to find a way to take advantage of her life-giving land and ensure that the soil would provide them with healthy foods and lots of trees for many years to come.
"Our current series of artwork deals primarily with trees. Our hope is that the words and phrases that we've incorporated into this work bring the viewer to consider the importance of trees to our ecology and reconsider the effects our consumptive culture has on the natural world. We've really appreciated the work that our friends at Plant With Purpose have done concerning reforestation. Even more, their holistic approach of integrating environmental action with relieving poverty is just brilliant! That is why we chose to give a portion of the proceeds of our sales to Plant With Purpose."
