This trip starts in Oaxaca City, one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the new world. After team orientation we will visit several of the 40 communities where Plant With Purpose works. We will see firsthand the environmental challenges that farmers face and the dramatic progress they have made to better their lives. Come and build relationships with farmers and their families and learn how they are working together with Plant With Purpose to improve their communities.

Haiti is often described as the poorest country in the western hemisphere, a place of near-hopelessness poverty and relentless environmental decline. But for over 12 years Plant With Purpose has been working in over 67 communities to bring environmental renewal and hope for a better future. This trip will be an ideal opportunity to gain a first-hand understanding of Plant With Purpose’s work in Haiti and the challenges faced by the Haitian people in light of the recent earthquake. Components of our trip will include: visiting local farms, churches, tree nurseries and micro-finance groups; spending time with local farmers to build relationships and learn about how they are working to heal their communities; and learning from local Plant With Purpose staff about the challenges and joys of working in Haiti.

Travel with us to the colonial city of Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the new world. After orientation in the city, we will visit several Plant With Purpose projects in rural regions, spending the nights in a comfortable EcoLodge in the country side. This trip will include a visit to the Haiti, DR boarder where Plant With Purpose is deeply engaged in both agricultural development and reconciling relationships between Dominicans and Haitians.
