This Christmas season we are hopeful for continued growth and transformation in the lives of partnering farming families around the world. In this series, we explore unique gift ideas from our Gifts of Hope online catalog. These life-changing stories are a result of your support. We invite you to give a Gift of Hope this year and change a life.

Spiritual renewal in the Dominican Republic is happening as a result of local church leaders taking initiative in their community. Pastor Francisco Ramirez wanted to see his church grow, in numbers and in depth of people’s relationships with Jesus. After participating in a Plant With Purpose spiritual leadership workshop, Francisco gained valuable knowledge about how to utilize Bible study groups to reach members of his community.

Francisco is a leader in his congregation, as well as in his community. He oversees a small group of church leaders as they initiate Bible studies. On his role as a spiritual leader, Francisco says, “In one workshop, I learned that the leader’s responsibility is to motivate, guide, and solve problems. I believe that the Bible study groups are a platform to address spiritual problems.” As a pastor, members of Francisco’s community look to him for guidance and counsel. Francisco now feels confident to disciple his church and his community well, as they realize God’s plan for their lives. Francisco’s dream was to see his church flourish, and this is becoming a reality as he stewards and leads his church through these Bible studies.

The church is instrumental to inspire change in poor, rural communities. Plant With Purpose partners with local churches like Francisco’s as they meet spiritual, physical, and local needs of their community. This Christmas you can support church-led discipleship in partnering communities, by equipping local leaders as they live out Christ’s gospel and transform their homes. Supporting church leaders gives hope to the congregation and community, as people grow in the knowledge of God’s love for them.
