The themes of death and resurrection are so evident as we move through April, the month we celebrate Easter and Earth Day. The dying seed brings new life as spring rains water parched land. Trees that were dormant in the winter send out new growth. Jesus’ death and resurrection reminds us of partnering families moving from despair to hope as they’re empowered to improve their lives and land.

We know that without prayer, this new life would not be possible. Join the international Plant With Purpose family on this first Friday of the month, Good Friday, to lift up these program praises and prayer requests.

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • The birth of a newborn baby in the Gerard family, one of the Plant With Purpose’s staff.
  • The recent marriage of staff member Aline.
  • The successful planting of 500,000 trees during this quarter.
  • The safe arrival of our country director following the International Meeting that took place in the USA.

We pray for:

  • Deo, our accountant, who was involved in a car accident.
  • Noé, Plant With Purpose Burundi’s country director, who suddenly lost one of his brothers. Pray also for Noé’s health, as he has been sick.
  • Peace and stability within the country as Burundi prepares for upcoming elections.

Dominican Republic

We praise God for:

  • A successful Vision Trip with a group from Seattle who enthusiastically learned about the program and visited the communities of Zumbador, Maizal, and El Aguacero.
  • The rain that allowed partnering farmers to plant timber and fruit trees.

We pray for:

  • Community leaders in the Ozama watershed region to be receptive of Plant With Purpose’s programs.
  • New church partnerships in the communities of Caobal and Núñez de Villa Altagracia as they incorporate Plant With Purpose’s programs.
  • Partnering farmers to adopt techniques taught during a farmer field day on planting and cultivating passion fruit. These methods were taught with the hopes of increasing crop diversification.

Haiti

We praise God for:

  • Safe travel for two Vision Trips that took place in March.
  • The slow start of the rainy season.

We pray for:

  • A strengthening of our partnerships with Clear Lake Presbyterian Church and St. Clement’s Church.
  • Political stability in Haiti during the upcoming elections.
  • Deeper understanding, unity, and humility among the staff.
  • A smooth transition for program staffing in the Acul du Nord region.
  • strong final quarter of the fiscal year so all set targets can be reached.

Mexico

We praise God for:

  • Our new staff member Anayeli Cruz who will be facilitating VSLA groups.
  • The work being accomplished in Chiapas as partnering families are blessed through the projects. They are growing quality vegetables, which they previously had to buy.
  • Families in partnering communities who are implementing projects that are improving their welfare and happiness.
  • The provision and faithful support of Plant With Purpose donors. May God bless you.

We pray for:

  • The planning and operations of our 2015-2016 projects that will begin to integrate the watershed approach.
  • Productive implementation of projects during the rainy season. Pray that the rains arrive on time so that none of the crops are lost.
  • The chicken module project, which will be launched this quarter.
  • The wellbeing of our promoters who oversee programs throughout partnering communities. Pray that this team will continue to grow and be equipped to do their jobs well.
  • Our partners Joel and Pastor Tomás and Abigal as they work with new families in Chiapas. May God bless them and keep them.

Tanzania

We praise God for:

  • The health of the staff and all the work they accomplished this past month.
  • The opportunity for partnering farmers to market their organic produce in Arusha, which gives them an opportunity to sell in a larger market twice a month.
  • Safe travel of the International Directors to and from the International Meeting.

We pray for:

  • Staff member Ediltruda Lucas to be healed soon following a minor accident that injured one of her ribs.
  • Staff member Julius’ wife to recovery quickly after having a tumor removed.
  • Partnering farmers to work hard and fully utilize the upcoming rainy season especially in tree planting and farming activities.
  • The donors who will visit Tanzania’s program in April. Pray they have a successful and safe trip.

Thailand

We praise God for:

  • A successful leadership training on holistic development and ministry with 53 seminary students and 27 church leaders from Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son provinces.
  • Meaningful meetings with a church, college, and school in the USA following the International Meeting. They are interested in supporting our ministry.

We pray for:

  • The serious problems of forest fires and smoke in northern Thailand. The best way to solve the problem will be with local people, government departments, and development organizations. Though Plant With Purpose partnering communities don’t burn trees, but it’s difficult to control nearby villages.
  • The village latrine project taking place this month with a youth group from Singapore.
  • The implementation of a new law concerning land and forests. The military and forestry department have started to strongly enforce the law, which affects the local people who have lived in the area for generations but do not have legal documents for their land. This law may cause them to be forced off their homes.
  • The staff’s preparation to work in new watersheds.

USA

We praise God for:

  • Safe travels for the three Vision Trips that took place in March. All program visits were impactful and further developed the relationship between programs and supporters.
  • The beautiful stories of impact and change that Plant With Purpose’s program is having on the lives of many.
  • Supporters and donors who bless us with their time, gifts, and talents.

We pray for:

  • The many opportunities that we will have this month during Earth Day events to share about the work and impact of Plant With Purpose.
  • Safe travels for the U.S. programs team as they visit the field this month. Pray also for the groups of supporters visiting the program in Tanzania and Mexico.
  • Wisdom in finding the right person to fill our staffing need of an Executive Assistant.
  • The exploration and groundwork being conducted that will launch a new program in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Finalization and approval of our five-year strategic plan and 2016 budget.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! We are deeply grateful for your partnership.
