The start of a new year brings with it preparation and planning for the 12 months that lie ahead. All seven of Plant With Purpose’s international programs are deep into the fiscal year and working toward commitments made to partnering families.

Proverbs 16:9 says, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” Your partnership in prayer is instrumental in setting direction as Plant With Purpose seeks God’s wisdom in determining “plans.” Join us on the first Friday of the month as we lift up these praises and prayer requests from around the world.

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • His great protection of staff and partnering families during our daily work in the context of threats, war, and high insecurity. Since April 2015, hundreds of people have been killed.
  • A successful partnership with World Food Program (WFP), for a food for work program, which will help in tree planting efforts. Please pray that the implementation of this program will complement Plant With Purpose’s goals.
  • A significant start of tree planting activities during December with 600,000 trees expected to be planted by the end of February 2016.
  • The opportunity for two staff, Méthode and Noé, to attend meetings in Moshi, Tanzania. Please pray for the implementation of acquired information in the Burundi program.

We pray for:

  • Successful negotiations between government officials. Pray for a stop to the conflict so Burundi can experience a lasting peace.
  • The Burundian youth who are being targeted and killed. May God give them hope and protect them from developing a spirit of vengeance and other unhealthy behaviors.
  • The board of directors meeting that will take place in early January 2016 to analyze important issues. Please pray that the board is able to focus on the program despite the current state of the country.

Democratic Republic of the Congo

  • More churches to engage in the stewardship of creation and preserving the environment in their communities.
  • The creation of new savings groups in the communities of Maizal and Kilometer 61.
