This is what the Lord says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the
mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a
new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the
wilderness and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:16, 18-19

As we enter a new year full of fresh hope and promise, we are humbled by God’s provision in 2014 and the faithful support of our partners. Our God makes streams in the desert and a way through the wilderness, and we enter 2015 in the faith that He will continue to transform lives across our international programs. Let’s go forward in hope as we celebrate a new year full of new mercies. Please join Plant With Purpose’s international body as we pray together.

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • His provision as the tree-planting season begins. About 42,500 trees have already been planted with the help of government institutions, churches, and schools.
  • His protection and mercy on the staff as they work in a country where circumstances are not always secure.
  • A successful Theology of Work training for church leaders in the Murenge Watershed region. The training brought about a change in perspective as churches decided to get involved in tree planting.

We pray for:

  • Continued success in tree planting efforts as they plan to plant about 500,000 trees by mid-February.
  • Peace throughout the country as Burundi heads into elections this May.
  • The upcoming Theology of Work trainings to bring significant change in churches so they willingly become involved in environment restoration and tree planting efforts.
  • Potential organizational partners in regards to fundraising for 2015.

Dominican Republic

We praise God for:

  • The successful completion of 2014 goals in the areas of spiritual renewal, economic development, and sustainable agriculture.
  • The participatory design for developing the 2015-2019 strategic plan.

We pray for:

  • Our new Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) coordinator, Antonio Boció Casanoba, as he oversees the savings-and-loan groups in Hondo Valle and Juan Santiago.
  • Meeting the goals of the new operational plan for the first half of 2015.
  • The impact of the program on new partnering communities in 2015.

Haiti

We praise God for:

  • His guidance as we accomplished all of the objectives set for the first half of the fiscal year.

We pray for:

  • Enough rain to water the seedlings in the tree nurseries.
  • Wisdom and discernment to reach, assist, and motivate partnering farmers.
  • Better and quick channels to spread information and trainings across partnering communities.
  • Direction in implementing a VSLA group at a school in Fonds Verrettes.

Mexico

We praise God for:

  • Being worthy of our praise.
  • The start of a new year of work, for our health, the care that He has for us, and all His blessings.
  • The confidence in knowing that He will once again supply all that is needed to continue the work of holistic ministry.

We pray for:

  • Confidence and wisdom as we develop a new work plan. Pray that everything we do will honor His name.
  • Every partnering family. Pray that Plant With Purpose will be a blessing in their lives as they learn about stewardship of His creation.

  • The workshop and exposure trip for church leaders and Christian organizations’ staff from the district of Omkoi (Chiang Mai) taking place this month. We will be sharing and talking about a pilot project focused on holistic ministry and sustainable farming.

USA

We praise God for:

  • Our generous supporters who have given time, prayers, and finances to help change the lives of the rural poor.
  • The team of gifted individuals that we get to work with including our international family!

We pray for:

  • The finalization of strategic planning that has been taking place across the programs. Please pray for God’s guidance, wisdom, and direction as goals are set for the upcoming years. This five-year plan will be discussed and approved at the January 31 board meeting.
  • The right person to fill our staffing need as we look for a new development assistant.
  • Plans for the upcoming International Meeting that will be taking place in San Diego this February.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! We are deeply grateful for your partnership.
