As the Plant With Purpose family gathered in San Diego for the 2015 International Meeting, the theme of prayer continued to surface. The meeting opened with the directors praying in their native language quickly bringing to mind the image of heaven in Revelation—one day we will worship in the presence of believers from every nation, tribe, people and language. Later Scott Sabin shared, “The foundation of our work is prayer.” And so we invite you to join us, the Plant With Purpose international family, in lifting up these praises and prayers on the first Friday of the month.

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • The engagement of churches as they catch the vision for environmental restoration work including planting trees.
  • New partnerships that will help promote the work of Plant With Purpose Burundi including a signed agreement with the Jane Goodall Institute.

We pray for:

  • Peace throughout the country as Burundi heads into elections this May.
  • A change in mentality so people stop burning trees to create pastureland for cattle. Pray that Plant With Purpose will help people see that this is not a good solution for future generations.

Dominican Republic

We praise God for:

  • The two Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) in the community of Castaño. In their first year they have saved $34,100 USD.
  • The community of Los Pinos who established a tree nursery and are producing citrus and mango seedlings.
  • The strong participation of community members from Los Núñez and El Llano in the newly established VSLAs.

We pray for:

  • The new partnership with the community of Majagua in the Ozama region. Please pray for God to open doors for further engagement and acceptance of the work of Plant With Purpose.
  • The involvement of churches in running community projects that have a positive impact on the environment.
  • The development of sustainable agriculture programs to increase vegetable production through home gardens.

  • Increased capacity and skills of local staff so they can continue empowering partnering farmers.
  • Wisdom for the entire staff in regards to working relationships with partnering communities and families.
  • Greater consensus among Haiti’s politicians so that their decisions will contribute to a better life for rural farmers.

Mexico

We praise God for:

  • The accomplishments of new program activities in the state of Chiapas :the community of Abasolo is successfully growing lettuce and cabbage, vegetable production is going well in the community of Mesbiljá and partnering families are very happy and the first savings-and-loan cycle in Chichihuistán closes March 8.
  • The work of promoters in CECIC, Nuxiño as they establish tree nurseries and promote environmental stewardship.
  • Protecting the growing crops from frost. Fortunately, they were not damaged by the cold weather.
  • The International Meeting in San Diego as it was productive and the Lord kept all participants safe during their travels.

We pray for:

  • The staff and partnering families in Los Altos, Chiapas, specifically the community of Chichihuistán, as they continue to implement all aspects of the program.
  • The next rainy season. Pray that families and communities are able to manage their water supply.
  • God to continue to guide us in our work and that we would see our efforts as a partnership with Him.

Tanzania

We praise God for:

  • The health of the staff and all the work they accomplished this past month.
  • The opportunity for partnering farmers to market their organic produce in Arusha, which gives them an opportunity to sell in a larger market twice a month.
  • Safe travel of the International Directors to and from the International Meeting.

We pray for:

  • The preparation of upcoming quarterly reports.
  • Peace and harmony as Tanzania prepares to vote on a draft of the national constitution.
  • Enough rainfall for partnering farmers in the upcoming rainy season.
  • The collection of information and data throughout 2015 in regards to the group competition. The 2015 competition will start this month.
  • Unity and love amongst the staff as anything is possible when you have unity.

Thailand

We praise God for:

  • The lives being changed because of Plant With Purpose, especially those who are opening their hearts to the Lord.

We pray for:

  • Partnering families as they rise above current conditions to find solutions to difficult farming conditions, land rights issues, shortage of water for irrigation, and challenges brought on by citizenship regulations.
  • Unity amongst the Christian churches in Thailand as they continue to work together and share Christianity with the country.
  • Plant With Purpose to accomplish more as we partner with hill tribe communities in the work of restoration.

USA

We praise God for:

  • A wonderful week in San Diego with our Country Directors at the International Meeting. Praise God for the work these leaders are overseeing and the impact the program is having on the six partnering countries.

We pray for:

  • The follow up that will be taking place in regards to conversations, workshops, and meetings at the International Meeting.
  • Safe travels and a fruitful time in Haiti and the Dominican Republic for three Vision Trips taking place this month.
  • Wisdom in finding the right person to fill our staffing needs for an Executive Assistant.
