“How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation.”

These words from Isaiah 52:7 bring to mind Plant With Purpose’s international staff as they traverse to remote communities to bring God’s good news. Plant With Purpose’s leadership in Thailand is currently on a seven-day bike ride throughout the northeast portion of the country, conquering 100 kilometers a day. They ride with the intention of praying for Thailand, focusing on unity, peace, and reconciliation. In a country where 1.2 percent of the population is Christians, praying for God’s presence and love is critical.

On the first Friday of every month, Plant With Purpose’s international family pauses to collectively lift-up praises and prayers from each country program. Please join us!

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • His protection of our families and staff as we work under pressure with threats of death and affliction due to insecurity in the country. There continues to be killings, imprisonments, and exactions in the capital city of Bujumbura. Our hearts are grateful that by His mercy we have escaped.
  • The ability to continue working and achieving objectives even during this period of trouble in the country. We also praise God for being able to complete quarterly reports on time.
  • The growth of plants in nurseries as tree and crop seedlings take root.
  • The rains now falling throughout Burundi.

We pray for:

  • Burundi as the country is in daily mourning. Pray for this country where violence and killings continue. Pray that God will have mercy on the country and bring his divine solution of grace.
  • This season that is conducive for tree planting. It has been hard to get volunteers to plant. Pray for motivation for partnering communities to plant trees and for creativity for staff to maintain enthusiasm and efforts.
  • Noé, Burundi’s country director, to get a visa for Thailand to attend the upcoming technical meeting.
  • Open doors so the international Plant With Purpose team can travel to Burundi again.
  • The new Plant With Purpose program officer for Africa.

Democratic Republic of the Congo

We praise God for

  • The ceremony on October 4 where we were able to remember our late co-workers. We thank Jesus for this time together.
  • A successful “Theology of Work” training held in partnering communities.
  • The progress being made on office construction.
  • The positive involvement of the local government in our activities.
  • The successful completion of our first quarterly reports.

We pray for:

We pray for:

  • Rainfall in the Dominican Republic as the country continues to experience drought.

Haiti

We praise God for:

  • Rosita, the wife of our administrator, who had a safe surgery and is recovering.

  • The ongoing rain in Fonds-Verrettes that allows the farmers to plant more trees.
  • The progress on projects and goals accomplished this past quarter.

  • A complete recovery for Rosita following her surgery.

Mexico

We praise God for:

  • Grace and mercy on the people of Mexico in the presence of Hurricane Patricia that was predicted to plague our country. Praise God because He heard our prayers and although there were losses in the fields, there were no casualties. Once again we saw His power.
  • The late rains that allowed for planting activities and reforestation to be carried out in partnering communities.
  • The work in the new community of San José de El Carmen in Chiapas. They are enthusiastically working toward the construction of five cisterns.

We pray for:

  • A quick solution to the socio-political conflicts throughout the State of Chiapas.
  • Protection while staff and promoters travel to communities that experienced heavy rain. Some roads were affected and are now difficult to pass.
  • The plans for an exchange of knowledge on dry ecological toilets with our brothers and sisters in Haiti and Dominican Republic. Please pray for God to open doors so Carlos Vidal can receive his passport.

  • The preparation of a pilot project on watershed management in northern part of Thailand and the countries of Myanmar and Laos.
  • The workshop on the revision of Plant With Purpose programs, approaches, and implementation taking place November 22-23.
