Pray With Purpose this April

Written by Plant With Purpose on March 31, 2016 in Prayer Letter

Stagnant water quickly becomes pools of waste where disease festers. The opposite of this is flowing water, the refreshing fluid being foundational to life.

Jesus, in conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well, shares that he gives living water. In response she asks him, “Where can you get this living water?”

Eventually Jesus answers, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

Plant With Purpose partnering families depend on natural water sources—rain, streams, underground aquifers—to bring crops to life. Yet as they come in contact with Jesus through staff, church partners, fellow community members, they experience streams of living water that offer eternal life.

On the first Friday of the month we lift up praises and prayer requests from Plant With Purpose programs. Will you join us in asking God for streams of water to quench the thirst of partners around the world?

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • His faithfulness in protecting staff as they work in areas of high risk during this time of uncertainty in Burundi.
  • The success of training events on “Theology of Work” and savings group management practices.
  • Support from the World Food Program (WFP) as 500 families were assisted through the Food For Asset program. Around 100,000 trees were planted in the Nyakazu watershed.

We pray for:

  • The ability for Burundi to overcome the current political crisis. Please pray for the safety of staff members while working in conditions where serious risks exist.
  • An effective solution for managing foreign currency exchange. New measures will restrict organizations from receiving external financial support and may lead to operational challenges.
  • Continued support from World Food Program (WFP) next year allowing us to plant and care for many more trees, while benefiting families.
