On the first Friday of each month, our international family joins together to pray for our programs. Prayer connects our supporters, international staff, and partnering families around the world. And when we gather to pray as a family, the communal act reminds us of the God whose hand is on each of our farmers, who makes the rain come, and through whom transformative work is possible. We come before Him together in confidence, knowing our praises and requests result in blessing and power.

A day without prayer is a day without blessing, and a life without prayer is a life without power. – Edwin Harvey

Please join us tomorrow as we ask God to continue His work through our staff, supporters, and partnering families.

Burundi

We praise God for:

  • The innovation and enthusiasm within our partnering communities.
  • Our dedicated church leaders who are leading their congregations to learn about Biblical calling through Theology of Work.
  • A recent visit from US staff members Scott Sabin, John Mitchell, Milmer Martinez, and Christi Huizenga, and the collaboration that took place with the Burundi leadership team.

We pray for:

  • Suzanne, our Burundi board chair, and Esperance, the lead agronomist for the central region. Both received a scholarship to attend a month-long course on sustainable agriculture through Hebrew University in Israel. We pray for safe travels and meaningful growth through the training.
  • For Aline, Plant With Purpose Burundi’s Deputy Director. She also received a scholarship to study sustainable agriculture in The Netherlands. We pray these trainings will be translated into program growth and improvement.

Dominican Republic

We praise God for:

  • All of the communities that have been receptive to partnering with Plant With Purpose.
  • The initial work that we have begun with the community of Yamasa. We have received a warm reception from community members, even during the early stages of our partnership.

We pray for:

  • God to provide the resources needed to support the new communities who wish to partner with Plant With Purpose in 2014.
  • New church partnerships with Plant With Purpose in the communities of La Represa, Los Guineos and La Lomita.

Haiti

We praise God for:

  • Protecting our community leaders in Cornillon who were in a car crash while they were traveling with Plant With Purpose staff near Port-au-Prince.

We pray for:

  • Sufficient rain for the rainy season so that our farmers will be able to produce enough crops for food and income.
  • Safe travels for Plant With Purpose USA staff members who will travel to visit Haiti programs with a Project Concern International representative this month.

Mexico

We praise God for:

  • The blessings we received so early in our fiscal year, including the success of an orchard and VSLA projects and the health of our colleagues and their families.
  • The community of Nuxino and for the work of local authorities in promoting reforestation through tree nurseries.

We pray for:

  • An upcoming meeting with our promoters, which will be held this month.
  • Better community organization in Santa Cruz Mitlatongo.
  • The success of nutrition workshops and vegetable production activities, which are key to improving the health of our partner communities.
  • Renewed energy and motivation for our group of artisans and for the successful marketing of their products.
  • Wisdom for the team.

Tanzania

We praise God for:

  • The blessing of rainfall that has just began.
  • The effort and enthusiasm shown by our partnering farmers in tree planting.

We pray for:

  • God to continue inspiring our partner families as they continue in their dedication to our programs.
  • Good health for the Plant With Purpose Tanzania staff.

Thailand

We praise God for:

  • The successful activities that took place in February:
  • A training in backyard agriculture for 35 farmers at the UHDP center.
  • A successful meeting with the Upper Maekok environmental network on watershed strategies and the development of a management plan with leaders from Chiang Rai.

We pray for:

  • Our strategic planning for watershed management with target villages in Chiang Rai.
  • The energy of Village Health Project volunteers, who are collecting important health data from local villages.
  • The March capacity building meeting for staff and village leaders, which will focus on migration and human trafficking.
  • The Creation Care and Gospel conference in the Philippines where UHDP has been invited to share about the role of Christian organizations in promoting Creation Care through their programs.
  • A peaceful resolution to the political situation in Thailand.

USA

We praise God for:

  • Our new staff member Rusty Pritchard, who joins the team with many years of conservation experience as the Regional Representative in Atlanta.
  • A smooth relocation to our new office just a few blocks away. We are grateful for a larger and more professional office with greater capacity for growth.
  • Technical Director Bob Morikawa’s visit to San Diego and for progress in our monitoring and evaluation methods.

We pray for:

  • The right candidate to fill the Grant Writer position.
  • Our Director of Field Operations John Mitchell’s family, who is finalizing their Visa process so that they can join him in San Diego.
  • The success of our upcoming spring campaigns in honor of Plant With Purpose’s 30th anniversary.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! We are deeply grateful for your partnership.
