Presidential Elections in Port au Prince, Haiti

Written by Plant With Purpose on December 8, 2010 in General

Haiti is undergoing the process of electing a new president and recent election results have sent many protestors into a rage over suspected fraud in the election results. Polls from the recent election determined two primary candidates to face each other in a January final election. While the supporters of a third place candidate, Martelly, have taken to the streets in protest of the loss. In order to take the presidency in election a contender has to receive greater than 51% of the vote and since that was not accomplished in the first vote the election will take place between the 2 final candidates. As the results stand, the two final candidates will be Mirlande Manigat and Jude Celestin.
