Plant With Purpose began utilizing community mapping with partners in Haiti this past spring. Partnering families located their farms and gained an understand on how farming practices can impact others.

By engaging with a geographic image of a community, neighbors begin to understand how their actions affect each other and the health of the entire watershed. For partners in Haiti, this was their first time seeing an areal image of their community. They quickly identified their properties, water sources, and other resources.

Community mapping empowers landowners to improve their situation by pooling their knowledge, resources, and work. Plant With Purpose is using this tool to highlight relationships and to suggest strategies for creating solutions to issues within their communities.
