Teamwork

Succeed. Achieve. Win. All great things by anyone’s standards.

These are goals that are ingrained in us at an early age. And we all know how nice it is to feel the accomplishment of a job well done or a good day’s work. However, the challenge that I’ve identified in recent years is how I regularly find myself tempted to try to do things on my own, with my own effort. I let my competitive spirit take over and ultimately focus on seeking recognition from my superiors, co-workers, family, and friends. By God’s grace though, along with that realization, I’ve learned the joy and satisfaction that comes from being a part of something bigger than myself and being a part of a team. I’m glad that when I was young I didn’t just learn to compete against my older brother, I was also surrounded by great examples of ethical behavior, healthy doses of perspective, and what it meant to work together.

Stepping into my role as Plant With Purpose’s Outreach Coordinator, I realized quickly that it wasn’t all about me. It wasn’t all about my boss, Doug. It wasn’t all about our Executive Director, Scott (even though he had been with the organization for over 15 years). It was about our team—here in the U.S. and abroad—working together with God for a purpose even bigger than we imagined we could accomplish on our own.

I’ve been blessed to be a part of that team and it has been my pleasure to serve as Plant With Purpose’s Outreach Coordinator for almost 2 1/2 years. Now, it is with great joy that I get to share with you all that in October I will be relocating Denver to work full-time as our Regional Representative for the West. My focus will be to build relationships with individuals, chuches, foundations, and corporations in an effort to tell our story and raise awareness and support for our work abroad. It has taken the support of my co-workers, family, and friends to bring me to where I am now, and it will take even more support going forward. Many thanks to everyone who has been involved in so many areas of my life supporting this next step!

Plant With Purpose is extremely excited about the receptivity we’ve seen around the ‘Front Range’ in Colorado, and there’s a lot of momentum to build on. We’re grateful for the support we’ve already received out there, and I’m incredibly open to partnership ideas that could help us accomplish our mission to come alongside rural subsistence farmers to help them provide better for their families and grow in the knowledge of God’s love and grace.

If you are in Denver or know people in the Denver area, here are some ways that you can be involved: I’d love to meet people at your church, community group, or business. I am passionate about the work that Plant With Purpose does and am just seeking opportunities to share it! We’ll have lots of volunteering opportunities all over so please let me know if you are interested in that, I’d love to have you join me in rallying support in the Front Range for Plant With Purpose.
