One in eight people around the world goes to bed hungry.
Of the 1.4 billion people living in extreme poverty around the world, 70 percent live in rural communities and depend on agriculture for their very survival. Yet due to environmental degradation, the land has not been producing enough, and small-scale farmers are left without enough to feed their families. This critical problem affects children most acutely, as under-nutrition can cause devastating effects including stunted physical and mental development and vulnerability to illnesses and disease. In response, Plant With Purpose equips farming families to increase their productivity through land restoration and sustainable agriculture training. Not only are families able to put nutritious meals on the table, but they are able to earn an income by selling their crops.
